5 Things you Didn't Know About Chia Seeds

There has been a lot of buzz here lately about Chia. Chia Seeds are one of the most nutritious superfoods in the world. They are only grown in certain parts of the world too. Did you know that you could probably survive off of chia alone because it contains so many nutrients including omega 3's and complete proteins?

But what is more interesting to learn about chia is their potential to help you lose weight. A lot of my friends have talked about wanting to learn more about this and I decided to talk briefly about it

Here's some info you probably didn't know about chia:
  • It's been consumed since 3500 BC. where the Aztecs named the seed for "strength" and used it as their main source of food and even currency.
  • Chia has over forty percent of the recommended daily value of fiber you need in a single serving! it's essential for helping with digestion and other things.
  • Chia seeds contain high amounts of omega 3's which are a major building block for health and anti-inflammation.
  • Chia has more antioxidants than blueberries too and far more than flax seeds.
So that's some overview of the mighty chia and I think it will server you well.

If you are hearing a lot about how chia can help with weight loss then you might want to do more research. The truth is you can lose weight with the help of chia. There's an excellent chia seeds weight loss guide from Chia Lovers on squidoo you should read. http://www.squidoo.com/chia-seeds-complete-guide

It's not going to happen overnight. Because chia seeds can hold 10 times their weight in liquid, meaning they absorb liquid (smoothies, sauce, soups etc) you get full much quicker. Thus you eat less :D

The type of chia that you buy is also very important. There are a lot of options on the market right now and so far the only product and company I buy from is organic vegan superfoods. The reason is the company has a reputation of selling high quality, gluten-free, vegan, and organic products. They are also the only company that seems to have chia oil and crackers.
